I hid you here or I had you hidden here

Hello teachers,

Could someone please explain to me what's the difference between these two expressions? I would really appreciate it.

The complete sentence is:

All that time I had you hidden here, you never told me I'm a good cook.

I had you hidden here is like I kept you hidden here, so it emphasizes that it was a long time that you were hidden more than simply saying I hid you here. Other than that, there isn't much difference.
