I heard sb go

I heard somebody GO into Jeremy's room.

Why do we say GO (present simple)? Can I use past continous "was going"?

'Go' here is the base infinitive. It's like you were saying 'I heard somebody to go into Jeremy's room'. But we just omit the word 'to'.

Best wishes, Clive
