I heard "in holding"

Someone said this in a movie?

He's in a police department and says

I've been in holding here before officer.

Is this correct? Did I hear incorrectly?

Yes, it's correct. It's verbal shorthand for "in a holding cell" in the police station.

Hi,

It's hard to decipher these things without any context, but here's my guess.

A holding cell is a place in a police station, where prisoners are held temporarily.

I've been in holding here before officer.
