I have two questions

I have to question

-1- I make a damage for someone and I want to appologise to him by said I'm sorry for the thing that I did for you

so I said : Im sorry for that or for this .is this true

2- which one is correct :

I have been used it before ....or...I have used it before

To be very pedantic, "that" is always a better choice, thought both are possible.

"That" refers to a more distant moment of the past, and "this" implies a more recent one. For example, if you hurt someone a few seconds ago, you can say either "sorry for that" or "sor
