YL, you sure?

It's an abbreviated way of speaking. It was nice seeing you. It was nice to see you. Seeing you was nice - I'd say it's gerund.

Hi Barbara

Nice seeing you = Nice to see you.

I was thinking that 'see' is a verb, and 'seeing' is also a verb. I stand corrected.

Am I wrong?

Most English learners are betting at labeling these parts of speech than I am, but I would say in this case it's a gerund. On the other hand, I've sure been wrong before!

A gerund has features of both noun and verb.

It is/was nice seeing you is the full form of Nice seeing you.

This full form (above) is generated by moving the original subject (seeing you) to the end, and placing dummy it where the subject used to be.

Seeing you is/was nice is the underlying sentence.

seeing is a gerund

I've = I have

I have sure been wrong before.

have been is the present perfect tense of to be.

Present perfect.

I was wrong. I have been wrong. I will be wrong again.

Sure is another way of saying "certainly."
