Essay & Composition Writing

I have to do a lesson plan "go to + verb" please check and let me know if you think this is okay?

WARMER/LEAD IN:
Start by showing pictures of boys and girls/mall/coat/money/food/shoes/bus. Having the students identify each object as shown. Asking OEQ - What do you do at a mall? How would you get there? Who would you go with? Where do you think the friends are going to?
During this stage I would be eliciting answers that would lead into the use of the "going to + verb"
PRESENTATION:
Having the picture of the mall and friends I would then ask questions using "going to" Do you think the friends are going to the mall? What do you think they are going to buy? When do you think they are going to go? How do you think they are going to get there?
Drilling after each answer: The friends are going to the mall. The girls are going to buy shoes. The boys are going to buy a coat.
PRACTICE:
Pairing the students up to discuss what they think the friends will buy/see/do at the mall. Drilling through out the exercise and using CCQ - How did they get to the mall? Who is going to the mall? OEQ - What do you think they will see at the mall? What kind of shoes/coat do you think the girls/boys are going to buy?
Putting the entire dialogue up on the board with the friends on one side and and the other pictures on the other having the students answering; Where are the friends going to go? When are they going to go? What are they going to buy? How are they going to get their?
PRODUCTION:
Allow the students an opportunity to discuss what they are going to do this weekend, where they are going to go on vacation.

Hi, I would teach the physical meaning of 'going to' in terms of a destination as a separate lesson. eg Tom is going to the mall. And I would teach the 'future' use of 'going to + verb' as a separate lesson.

  • Hi, I would teach the physical meaning of 'going to' in terms of a destination as a separate lesson.
  • eg Tom is going to the mall.
  • And I would teach the 'future' use of 'going to + verb' as a separate lesson.
  • eg Tom is going to buy a book.
  • In my opinion, you will confuse your students if you try to teach both at once.
