I have some really, really great people with me here

The other day I had a mini epiphany where I realized that I have some really, really great people with me here at CofC, and I DON'T want to leave them so soon.

Is with me necessary?

Hi, The speaker said with me because he wanted to refer to the people he spent time with only, not to any person at CofC. From what he said I guess they were really close to him and even supportive. Regards
