Hi ,Reweire the following sentences . Make sure you don't change the meaning of the original sentences.5.Jimmy went home before sonya arrived.(by the time...)  8. I know fewer girls than Dan .(as many)8.I don't know as many girls as Dan does.  - I have to use does -If I write this sentecnc: "I don't know as many girls as Dan", (without doest ) is it wrong? why if it is wrong .10.I have never done anything as exciting as this .This is the most exciting thing I have ever done. -about this I write " This is the most  / This is most "?12. Dick is quite optimistic despite his serious illness.Even though Dick has a serious illness,he is quite optimistic. -coud I write this sentence ("Even  Dick has a serious illness,he is quite optimistic.")- without word "though " is it right?13.I'v never had such a good offer as this .This the best offer I have ever had. - can I write this sentence :"This is thebest offer I have ever had " is it write instead of this sentence:"This the best offer I have ever had" - what the different?Thanks alot .

Hi, This is what I would do but my answers might not be correct.

5. By the time sonya arrived, Jimmy had gone home. 8. I know fewer girls than Dan or I know fewer girls than Dan does. -- both good I think.
8. I don't know as many girls as Dan -- Somehow, I feel this is incorrect.
I don't know as many girls as Dan does. -- Somehow, I feel this is correct.
9. I think this has been discussed many times in these forums. I think both are good.
This is the most exciting thing I have ever done.
This is most exciting thing I have ever done.
12. I think if you replace the words 'Even though' with 'even', the contextual meaning changes.
13. Your two sentences with different elements impart different meaning, I think.

'Even **** [i.e. as well as other individuals unnamed] has a serious illness, but he is quite optimistic.' but it doesn't mean the same as 'Even though **** has a serious illness, he is quite optimistic'.

This the best offer I have ever had. - can I write this sentence :"This is the best offer I have ever had " is it ~~write~~ right rather than ~~instead of~~ this sentence:"This the best offer I have ever had" - what's the ~~different~~ difference?
