I have never known him to behave other than selfishly

I have never known him to behave other than selfishly.
["other than" in Oxford Learner's Dictionary http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/than]
I'd like to know if "other than" follows the role of the word after it with the role of the conjunction.? Here it's role might be a adverb plus a conjunction.
And I'd like to know if "him" can be modified by to-infinitive.
Thank you in advance for your help.
