I have him mailed or I have had him mail

I have him mailed or I have had him mail? My teacher says the second sentence is more correct but why? The first sentence sounds good to me.

My bad. I should've written the full sentence. But in any case let's say...
1) I have him mailed a letter to you.
2) I have had him mail a letter to you.
Which sentence is correct? And why? Thanks!
