Dear Billybillwong: I received, I obtained, I was awarded, I was conferred (antiquated usage), I earned my OR a (either one - but remember, you did the work so I would say my ) degree in accounting from The University of Chicago in 1996. "Finish" and "completed" do not work here because you didn't finish or complete the degree, you finished the work required (and passed the courses) to obtain a degree. Hope this helps.
