I have eaten

A guy meets with a friend at a cafe around 11 in the evening often. The guy usually only orders something to drink, while the friend grabs a meal too. One day the guy arrives, orders a coffee and joins the friend (who's already there) at a table.

The friend asks: Still not hungry?

The guy responds: I have eaten.

"I've already eaten" seems to be the standard phrase, but I don't feel it fits in my example, so would "I have eaten" be OK?
