I have asked you this question for five days now what is the meaning of 'Now' here?

'I have asked you this question for five days now, so tell me - what is science?'

Now means 'up to now'? I am rewriting the sentence 'I have asked you this question for five days up to now, so tell me - what is science? please simplify it if I am wrong.
