i have always liked or i always liked

Hi there!
Could somebody help me please with these sentences. I don't know what tense to choose. Present Perfect or Past Simple?

" I thought I would like the job, because I have always liked working outdoors"

"I thought I would like the job, because I always liked working outdoors"

My eternal problem - using these two tenses. Please, try to explain clearly.

I'm looking forward to getting your reply.
Thanks!

"I always liked working outdoors" is talking about how you felt in the past, in a way that is not connected any more with the present. For example, if you are now retired, and don't work any more, you can say of a job you did when you were younger: "I thought I would like the job, because I always liked working outdoors". "I have always liked working outdoors" means that you still like working outdoors.
