I have a question.

I came across the article as below.

" Researchers announced that they could turn pollution into plastic.

This plastic can be used in DVDs eyeglass lenses, and more.

This new technology uses carbon dioxide emissions from coal-burning power plants.

This makes it good for the environment."

Then, I wonder what the pronoun " it " on the last sentence implies. " This " on that sentence implies

the former sentence, " This new technology ~ power plants" , is that right?

Then, what does " it " on that sentence imply? Could you teach me that?
