I haev the question about total and partioal expression.
I read the news today and had a question about the sentence as follows.
They say that more than 300,000 refugees and migrants have crossed the sea.
The new says that 300,000 is the total of refugees and migrants. But when they say 250,000 refugees and 50,000 migrants, 250,000 is not the total, right? So I feel strange about this. I have anything wrong?

If they don't say 3 brothers and a sisters for 2 brothers and a sister, we need to say 3 brothers and a sister???

I'm still finding it very difficult to understand what you're talking about.
You do not say: "I have three brothers and sisters."
You do not say: "I have three brothers and sisters."

Total: ....... 300,000
But here is nothing in your post that contradicts this arithmetic, so it's unclear why you feel strange about it.

We do sometimes say "I have 3 brothers and sisters" (3 in total) if we don't want to be specific about how many siblings of each gender we have, but it can be confusing. Siblings can sound quite formal though.
