I had my lunch.

Dear all,

Kindly see the following sentence. I would like to know the exact meaning of the words " I had my lunch" in this sentence. Does it mean "I was eating my lunch?", "I finished eating my lunch" or "Just started eating my lunch."

1) When Tom phoned me at 1 p.m yesterday, I had my lunch.

Thank you.

m yesterday, I had my lunch. Literally, it seems to mean that your having lunch was prompted or instigated by the phone call. Absent some special context, this is not something that we would normally expect to happen, so we tend to doubt this meaning, and wonder instead whether "I had" is a mistake for "I was having".
