I had my car wait/ waiting outside.

1. I had my car wait.

2. I had my car waiting.

Are the both grammatical?
If they are, what is the difference in meaning between them?

But it can be improved. The driver usually is the one who waits. But if you want to be impersonal (and a tad imperious) then it's OK to say that the car is waiting on your request.

Sorry, Marcel, that's not right.

I had to wait for my car. It has a different meaning than the causative "have" which is what Michelle asked about.
