d. I don't feel well. I guess I have the flu. (I'm guessing wrong here??)
e. What was your solution in exercise A? Hmm, I'm guessing it was ....

No. You can use either form anytime. The two just have slightly different flavors. The -ing form suggests that it is taking longer for the speaker to come to a conclusion.
