I got on the street

Hello,

I'm not sure if this sentence sounds natural:

"I just got on the street and drove to school."

Is it all right?

Thank you

It's grammar is OK, but its meaning is murky. What do you mean by 'get on the street'?

By writing "I got on the streat" I wanted to say that somebody hopped into the car, pulled into the street and drove to work.
