I found a sentence that doesn't sound right in a book, YOUR THOUGHTS?

Hi,

Can you help verify whether this sentence is grammatically correct?

"If it is a free app that will monetise by other means (e.g. advertising) and not be funded directly from the user, you have to see whether people are using it regularly."

I got this sentence from a book that i am close to finishing, had to reread it multiple times because it doesn't sound right for me.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. The introductory "if" phrase is a bit long, and the sentence itself is a bit long, but there are no mistakes. Thwe structure is "If X and Y, (then) you must Z."

Techies are not known for their writing skills. It sounds like this book was dashed out in a hurry by a nerd.
