I feel sad today

I am a teacher of English. My students are too lazy. They don't study harder than I expected. I forced them to learn everytime everywhere. But it seems that leads to opposite effects. They hate me and find ways to avoid my requests, even drop out my class in order to relax themselves. Maybe they want to be independent. I was wrong.
