i don't understand this sentence

comparing and contrasting knowledge that is gained from experience with knowledge gained from books is not an easy task because both have benefits and drawbacks. This essay covers arranging the topics in an appropriate order, making it easy to access sources, and addressing complicated topics.
what does "making it easy to access sources" mean?

This is something of a hodgepodge, in my opinion. I'm not sure what topics are being referred to. It sounds like we're getting ready to do the job of comparing and contrasting material that we have already accumulated --- some from experience and some from books.

I agree with Avangi. The sentence is not very clear. It will help you to understand the sentence if you put brackets round the two items that are being compared. For example:
comparing and contrasting (knowledge that is gained from experience) with (knowledge gained from books) is not an easy task....
