I am trying to understand Alanis Morissette's song Guardian but I can't get some parts. Please help me someone. In the first verse she seems to really say good things about the person:
You, you who has smiled when you’re in pain You who has soldiered through the profane They were distracted and shut down
But then she gets angry and says: So why, why would you talk to me at all Such words were dishonorable and in vain Their promise as solid as a fog
Is she talking to the same person? Why the sudden change? What does it mean? And in the third verse:
You, you in the chaos feigning sane You who has pushed beyond what’s humane Then as the ghostly tumbleweed
What does the ghostly tumbleweed mean? Is there some some special meaning? And at the end everything seems to be over, because she writes:
Now no more smiling mid crestfall No more managing unmanageables No more holding still in the hailstorm
Is it because the person is safe or what? Thanks to any kind person who helps me. I am most grateful.
