Hi teachers!
The following is a short essay about "Thought Experiment". The author concludes that the relationship between the two concepts is clarified, but I do not know what relationship the two concepts have.
Does the author imply that being tall is not always good? ? ?
" In everyday life, we often use a thought experiment to make a point.
If somebody claims that, referring to a man’s height, “the taller, the better,” you may show him that such a claim is inadequate by a simple thought experiment.
You may ask him, “If you were taller than any building in the world, would that be better than being just as tall as Michael Jordan?”
He might realize that his claim “the taller, the better” is invalid after imagining himself taller than every building in the world in contrast to being as tall as Michael Jordan.
Does he need to grow taller than every building in order to see the point? Of course not.
Do we need to know how to make him that tall? We don’t.
In this simple thought experiment, the relationship between the two concepts, being tall and being good, is clarified. "
Many thanks in advance
