I dont know how to use "unless" with sentences.

My teachers didn't understand what I wrote my sentences with "unless".

I'm afraid none of your sentences use "unless" correctly at all.

You use unless to say that something will happen if something else doesn't happen.

I will give you a ride.
If you want to smoke in the car, I will not give you a ride.
I will give you a ride, unless you want to smoke in the car. Then you had better ride with Jeff.

OH! I got it. However, I noticed the dictionary saying that unless means but; except; save. So i am wondering why do it have different meanings? It makes me confused.
