I don't know how to say these 6 question, which word or phrase?

Could you tell me which word to use and how to say it please?

1 She warmed her hands over the fire./by the fire.
2 The walls act as a noise insulator/as insulation.
3 She got on the subway at the front/toward the front.
4 I did the right thing (in) helping her. (is IN optional?)
5 You have 50 dollar bills more than 100 dollar bills/more often than 100 dollar bills.
6 He's generous when it comes to lending his clothes, but otherwise he's cheap/other than that he's cheap.
The line on the ground on the platform shows/indicates/delineates where the doors are going to be once the subway has pulled in.

2. The walls act as a noise insulator/as insulation. Both are okay. "as insulation" would be understood as thermal insulation.

3. She got on the subway at the front/toward the front.
