I don't get the word "bound"

Reading geography and get baffled at this.

Scotland is bounded by the North Sea on the east and the Atlantic Ocean on the west

does it mean that Scotland is in the part of North Sea as drawn in the picture?

If X is "bounded by" Y, it means that Y is the limit of the extent of X. In other words, if you travel in an appropriate direction out of X then you will reach the boundary or border with Y. If you continue on, you will cross into Y.

It describes the boundary line of the country, or the countries that border its area.

For example, Macedonia is bounded on the east by Bulgaria, on the north by Serbia and Kosovo, on the east by Albania, and on the south by Greece. It is a landlocked country. (Landlocked means that it has no port cities on a seacoast.)
