I don't get the meaning, please help!

Hi. I don't get the meaning of the underlined part. I would be very grateful if you help me.

Where do ideas come from? This question has always been a bit of a mystery. In ancient times, people thought that ideas came to them when they were visited by a Muse — a kind of ideas spirit. Even now it can seem a bit of a magical process — you can wake up in the night with a really good idea (though it’s usually less impressive in the cold light of day!), or ideas may come to you throughout the day.

HI; "cold light of day" is an idiom. It says that night time is more mysterious than the day time. Strange things happen at night, but when there is light, these things are seen more clearly, as they really are.
