This is because I don't find brainstorming and stimulating ideas at a restaurant really working/works/worked. The noise of customers asking for their orders, the clacking sound of kitchen utensils and the sweating caused by the hotness of the restaurant making it hard for me to concentrate on what I am doing.

Hi there. "I don't find it works" is a general statement while "I don't find it's working" applies to a present temporary situation.

So, in my case (the example I gave you above), which one is correct?

I beg to differ. I don't find either option idiomatic. Syntactically, as stand, the "I don't find it ..." context should be typically followed by either an adjective, to-infinitive or a noun phrase . i.e. I don't find it difficult to learn a new language . Conversely in a positive context, I find it hard to believe one can make $80,000 a year working at home. We can mod

These seem the most reasonable:

This is because I don't find brainstorming and stimulating ideas at a restaurant really working. The noise of customers asking for their orders, the clacking sound of kitchen utensils and the sweating caused by the hotness of the restaurant is making it hard for me to concentrate on what I am doing.

This is because I don't find

With the simple form, it is merely a subordinate clause with the optional 'that' omitted, grammarfreak: This is because I don't find (that) brainstorming and stimulating ideas at a restaurant really works.

With the participle, 'be' is also elided: This is because I don't find (that) brainstorming and stimulating ideas at a restaurant (is/are) reall
