I don't believe in new year's resolutions

Hi

1:Could you please edit the text below?
I don't believe in new year's resolutions because I have seen lots of people making huge resolutions but still following their old routines once the new year starts. Making resolutions and claiming that one is going to change things in one's life do sound good and high but it takes real courage of a man to put those resolutions to work.

2:Could you please let me know if the sentence below correct? Is the use of 'call on' correct? I couldn't find any meaning of 'http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/call+on' which fits here? Thank you.
Who called the police on him?
