"I did what I have to do."

I know that "I did what I had to do." is correct, but by any chance, "I did what I have to do." is possible to say in some context? Thank you so much as always and have a good day.

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain myself clearly. what I had to do sounds better to me. I just tried to show how the shift to the present would be more acceptable.
