Question:
Does the sentence imply
Idea1) There is no evidence to suggest that my girlfriend was happy because of my cake
Idea2) I wanted to ensure she was happy only, but she might not be happy
Idea3) After I bought the cake, she was happy because of my cake
Idea4) Other?

Sentence:
I bought a birthday cake for my girlfriend.
I did this to ensure that my girlfriend was happy.

My opinions:
I think the sentence implies both idea 1 and idea 2.
