Hi,

Can you please help me with this sentence: I did play soccer.
If someone asks: Did you play soccer? Is it wrong to answer: I did play soccer.
Can you have a colleague double check your answer to me? This is so important for me.

Hi,

I just emailed you about the sentence: " I did play soccer.."

But I want to know what the difference is between : " I did play soccer" and " I played soccer."

I did play soccer would be used for emphasis only, as a response (to a negative).

* Well, we pay only the people who played soccer, and you didn't.

* But, I did play soccer.

*You should have gone to the manager.

*I did go to the manager, but he didn't help.
