I desperately need your help...

The task was to complete the sentences using appropriate forms of the words.
I did most of the task, but I don't know how to arrange these 3 sentences:
1) Nowadays parents have to see to it that their offsprings ___ and pass exams.
2) You have to pay for ____ in a private school.
3) I had to have extra ____ in Maths

Words: Measure up, tuition, enrol.

My variant:
Nowadays parents have to see to it that their offsprings measure up and pass exams(actually you measure up to smth, but as I said, I don't know the right asnwer)
You have to pay for enrollment in a private school(however tuition would suit better)
I had to have extra tuition in Maths (nothing else suits here).

It's true that you "measure up" to some standard, but from the context of concerned parents and children passing exams, it's clear that the standard is academic performance. So answer 1) is right. Answer 2) is correct as well.

  • Answer 2) is correct as well.
  • And you've spotted that neither of your first two answers would fit in 3).
  • Well done.

I think the problem is an error in the instructions.

Note that the plural form of offspring is the same as the singular. It does not add an -s.
