I can't understand the usage of "still is today" here.

Recently, I read an article "Nick Jonas' Lesson for Other Teen Musicians" from the url "http://learningenglish.voanews.com/content/young-musicians-get-a-lesson-from-nick-jonas-126292998/113850.html". I found a sentence :
Social media was incredibly important for my brothers and I at the beginning of our career and still is today.
I find it difficult to understand the meaning of "still is today". Who can explain this sentence for me?
