"I can't find the right words"

I can't find the right words to explain it. Can I get back to you later by e-mail? Is this correct and appropriate to say? It's sometimes hard for me to explain something on the spot using English. I'd rather explain it in writing than speaking. Then, when I didn't understand what someone said, is it rude to say, "Could you rephrase the word?"
