"I can't find it back"

My friend asked me for tweezers, so i gave them to him. After he was done with them he gave them back and I put them away. A few minutes later he asked for them again. After looking I replied "I can't find it back." He made fun of me and said the correct thing to say is "I can't find them again." Is my response proper grammer? It makes sense to me!

Is my response proper grammar?-- The grammar is not bad, but your word choice is wrong. 'Back' implies a reversal or reciprocity of direction, physical or metaphorical: I went to town and then drove back home. I called him, but he didn't call me back.

But you are not trying to find something in the reverse 'direction'-- you are simply tr
