I can't bear to see ...

Hi

Two women were talking. One said to another:

This place is the worst hotbed of gossip I ever knew. I really think I owe it to you to tell you what the latest is. Or have you heard and decided to ignore it?’
‘Why “owe”? Is it concerned with me?’
‘It definitely is. And I can’t bear to see you going about like a babe in the wood any longer. Whoever started it
should be tracked down and exposed and made to apologize.’

Does it mean: I can't watch any longer how you go about like a naive babe?

Do these words sound like she was accusing/reprimanding her? They have a negative connotation?

By the way, does "go about" mean "walk around"?
