My teacher said that "I cannot speak English." is wrong because the sentence is also a good English sentence, so we should say, "I do not speak English." I think that he sounds right, but I think that I can say, "I cannot speak English well." if I think my English is not good enough although I can speak it and I know some. When someone asks me, 'Sprechen sie Deutsch?" I like to answer keine (none), which is self-contradictory. Some get the humor, some don't.
