I cannot make this sentence sound right

Hi!

I cannot make this sentence sound right..Can you give me a hint how to make it better?

Reding of contemporary texts that are close to students generationally, with the setting in their own region, dealing with live issues as well as student's opportunity to choose, are feasible changes that could refresh literature classes and increase interest for reading.

I appreciate your help

Having the students read contemporary texts, set in their own region and dealing with live/current issues, might be a solution that could refresh literature classes and increase the students' interest in reading/for books. I left out the "students' opportunity to choose" because I don't understand it. It's a first step into correction, I'm sure other members will do better!

Second step:

"Having the students read contemporary texts of their own choosing that are set in their own area and deal with current issues would be a feasible way of reinvigorating literature classes and increasing the students' interest in reading."

(3rd step anyone?)
