"I can take anything you can throw at me"

"I can take any anything you can throw at me". I think this means: "I am tough, I can bear any burden (real or psychologica)" etc. But does a sentence like this make sense: "He's a sucker, he will believe anything you can throw at him"? Can you use any other verb other than "take" or is that a fixed sentence?

Interventizio But does a sentence like this make sense: "He's a sucker, he will believe anything you can throw at him"? The usual expression is: He's so gullible that he'll believe anything you tell him. But your sentence is intelligible.
