Grammar

I can go vs I could go

Hi everybody!

I was wondering if you could help me with this sentence from a grammar point of view.
"I've put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go..." Actually, this a part of a lyrics of a song. I think because of consistency we should say "... as far as I could go"
Am I right?

Without seeing the rest of the lyrics, it is difficult, but you may be right. Lyrics are some of the most poorly written things out there, and it is rare to see correct grammar used. As for rap, well I may go out on a limb here, but I would say they hardly EVER use correct grammar.
