please help me.

i don,t kown the following which is right, and why?

--are the audience all present at the meeting?

-- yes, they are all seated in the hall and ____ for your speech to begin.

I agree with GG on audience.

I made a search at The New York Times (which has sharp-eyed editors, I assume) and the only time plurals showed up after it was in:

members of the audience were/are ...

Thus you could say:

Are all the members of the EXPECTED audience present at the meeting?

"Seated" is a little bit complicated. We have the verb "to sit" which is usually intransitive (does not take an object); e.g., Please sit (down). We also have the verb "seat" which is transitive (requires an object); e.g., The host
