"I booked the flight back a month too late."

Hi all

Could you please help me find the correct expression for this scenario? I booked a flight ticket online for the 10th of March instead of the 10th of February.

"I made a careless mistake booking my flight online. I booked the flight back a month too late." Is this natural English?

Thank you.

Best wishes

Yes, but it's a little ambiguous. When I read your sentence I thought you meant you waited too long to book it, then I read your explanation. Also I'd use "return flight" because "back" has usages in expressions of time, so at first I saw "back a month" and read it as "a month ago".

  • So I might say this: "I booked the return flight a month later than I'm actually returning" or "I booked the return flight for the wrong month".
