"I belly-rolled off the big inflated side": meaning in context

Dear all:

Please help once again. The context is this (the girl is going to the Antarctic peninsula in a rubber boat, and is about to step on the shore):

The closer we got to Port Lockroy, the building strangely got smaller and smaller, which was the first time I got scared. Charlie gunned the engine and drove the Zodiac onto the rocks. I belly-rolled off the big inflated side and dropped my life jacket. I scrambled across the big rocks, avoiding the singing gentoo penguins guarding the ir rock nests until I reached a wooden ramp leading to the entrance...

(Where'd Yo Go, Bernadette, Part 6)

It's not even clear to me whose "big inflated side" she's talking about. Her life jacket? The boat?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,

Max
