Dear Verónica,
I’m writing you in order to thank you the loan of your flat during the last two weeks. I hope you’ve enjoyed in Berlin as much as I did in Salamanca.
I feel rather sorry about an accident which happened during your absence, my flight was delayed two days because of an strike in the airport so when I arrived I found it was already too late for your goldfish. I decided to buy a pair of new goldfish as I still feel that the tragedy was my fault. As you’ll have noticed they are smaller and redder than they used to be but I hope this is a solution of your convenience. I beg your understanding about this issue although, as you can see, I had no opportunity of taking care or your pets.
Anyway, I hope you’ve enjoyed your holiday; I am looking forward to hearing every detail in the party I’m holding on 5th November (I do hope you haven’t changed your mind about coming!). Before leaving I’d like to encourage you to phone me as soon as you find any problem in your flat. I left some money for paying the telephone bill and the other house expenses (electricity, water and so on) so I hope this money is enough for covering all of them.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again.
