I ask a question of her.

1) I send her a flower.
-> I send a flower to her.

2) I ask her a question.
-> I ask a question of her.

I know that the #1 is correct but I am not sure of the #2. Can I rewrite ‘I ask her a question’ to ‘I ask a question of her.’

What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much as usual.
