I and Joe vs Joe and I

Hi, I have a question regarding the order of subject in a sentence such as below;

I and Joe went out for dinner last night. To me, Joe and I sounds better, but I can't think of any grammatical rules indicating one is correct and the other not.
I was wondering whether the latter alternative sounds better to your ear as well and why?

Thank you
Hamid

hrsanei To me, Joe and I sounds better, but I can't think of any grammatical rules indicating one is correct and the other not. It's not a matter of grammar, but one of etiquette (in most countries, the other person should come first).

Thank you, it makes sense. So I have always been polite without noticing it. Emotion: smile
