I am unable to use the subject "I" in my literature review. This is causing me to use dangling participles all over. How can I fix this?

Without using the subject "I" in my literature review, I am finding it virtually impossible to not use dangling participles. EX: In searching The Professional Development Collection, the more general terms of Autism and Communication were used.
How else can I write this?

I see no reason why you cannot use the occasional 'I'; however, this seems OK: The more general terms of Autism and Communication were used in searching the Professional Development Collection.
